Before I was a speaking coach, I was an actress. I learned about presence, voice, and being fully alive during years of performing on actual stages.
And then, in the middle of a successful run of a play - great reviews, perfect role, wonderful audiences - I got stage fright so bad I convinced myself I had ongoing food poisoning. (My husband was eating the exact same things and was perfectly fine. Hmmm...)
Eventually, I had to admit to myself what was actually happening. And I realized something that changed everything. Managing performance anxiety is its own skill set - completely separate from any performance training.
That discovery led to 15+ years of work with 1,200+ clients and 70+ organizations across San Diego and Boston, including physicians, executives, engineers, artists, founders, and people who swore they'd never be comfortable in front of a room. I wrote the book on it - Your Guide to Public Speaking.
But more importantly?
I know how to create a room where people feel safe enough to take risks and skilled enough to actually improve.
